Australian non-profits earn trust they cannot convert into digital visibility
Across 2,186 Australian non-profit organisations this quarter, the cohort holds a median RADAR score of 47.2 and a strong 4.6-star median rating. Yet reputation rarely translates into reach: search visibility is thin, websites are underbuilt, and only 3.3 per cent reach the Accomplished tier.
Praised by the few who find you
The median non-profit carries a 4.6-star rating but just 9 reviews, and around 34.8 per cent show strong ratings paired with thin review volumes. That combination signals goodwill from supporters who already know the organisation, rather than a reputation working to attract new ones. The trust is real but shallow in reach.
Missing from the searches that matter
Roughly 34.2 per cent of the cohort sits in the low-traffic band, and about 17.1 per cent register as effectively invisible in search estimates. With a median domain authority of just 21, most organisations lack the standing to surface when donors, volunteers or beneficiaries look for support. These figures are third-party approximations but point to a clear discovery gap.
A cohort split almost down the middle
An estimated 52.6 per cent of organisations are growing while 45.9 per cent are declining, leaving the sector finely balanced. A further 92 organisations have effectively collapsed in visibility over the period. The narrow margin suggests momentum is fragile and easily reversed for those not actively maintaining their digital presence.
Strong cause, undercooked digital foundation
Some 52.4 per cent of the cohort sits in the digital bottom band, and "Other / none detected" leads the platform mix ahead of WordPress and Squarespace. That absence of a robust, measurable website undermines the ability to convert interest into donations or sign-ups. The infrastructure is not keeping pace with the trust the sector has earned.
